Weddings at St Patrick's
Because St Patrick's is such an impressive building, and its location is so central, it is a popular location for weddings. If you are considering St Patrick's as a venue for your wedding please note the following:
St Patrick's parishioners
St Patrick's receives many requests to celebrate the Sacrament of Marriage. For various reasons, it is not always possible to meet these requests. If St Patrick's is neither your parish of residence, nor is it your regular place of worship, then it is preferable for the Sacrament to be celebrated in your home parish.
Other applicants
If you live outside the parish and St Patrick's is your regular place of worship, then before requests can be moved on, written permission must be sought from your own Parish Priest. You would also need to meet with your own Parish Priest to discuss a preparation course for Marriage. The Parish Priest, Fr Desmond Keegan, is usually about at all the Sunday Masses to have a chat about and clarify the above questions.
Please note: We normally require at least six months notice for weddings. This is to give us time to arrange a marriage preparation programme for couples. In line with Archdiocesan policy, we do not conduct weddings on Sundays.
