Welcome
We are a Catholic parish in the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town and home to the Edinburgh Oratory Project.
St Joseph’s Day 19th March 2024
Holy Masses at 12.30pm and 5.45pm, both concluding with the Triduum prayers (by St John Henry Newman, plus Litany and Hymn).
Please note the middle car park from Gray’s Close is closed today until Thursday evening.
The lower car park from the Cowgate is open.
Car Park Closure
Crane hire has been scheduled for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of this week
(19.3.24, 20.3.24, 21.3.24), which we require to prune the perimeter trees. Therefore, we need the middle car park closed on these days. This is the car park that leads directly into the church via Gray’s Close. The bottom car park can remain open and will be unaffected.
From Monday (18.3.24) night the middle car park gates will be closed until Thursday (21.3.24) night, granting the crane sole occupancy to carry out the tree work required.
Shalom World Media
We’ve had a recent visit from the largest Catholic Media group in the world, filming an episode on Vocation (their Vocare series) and other episodes on “hope” (their Words of Wisdom series). These should come out in October. In the meantime we recommend to you their website which has so much to offer in the way of good Catholic films: Shalom World Experience a New Media Culture
We would like to support their good work, and encourage you to look at their previous work in visiting York Oratory with Father Daniel Seeward on the theme of Hope Does not Disappoint and their mini-film on St Margaret Clitherow, the “Pearl of York” Her Life was Her Sacrifice is my Choice or the documentary on St John Henry Newman who wanted their to be an Oratory of St Philip Neri in Edinburgh: The Quest for Truth
