The Restoration Appeal
… Celebrating the past
… Living the present
… Securing the future
St Patrick’s is a notable landmark in Edinburgh’s Old Town. Located in a site designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, St Patrick’s fascinating social history combines with its architectural beauty to make a highly significant building in the city.
St Patrick’s is at the beginning of a £500,000 appeal which will help restore this magnificent church to ensure its future as a place of worship and pilgrimage through the 21st century and beyond.
St Patrick’s has long had a special place in my affections. Its unique social history and its significance as the resting place of The Venerable Margaret Sinclair give it a particular significance.
Please be as generous as you can in supporting this Appeal. You have the opportunity to ensure its future as a place of devotion for generations to come.Cardinal O'Brien
- Urgent repairs to roof and masonry
- The building is no longer wind and water tight and the work is urgently required to prevent further deterioration;
- Upgrading of heating and lighting
- This is needed to ensure the safety and comfort of worshippers and visitors and enhance the beauty of the building;
- Organ Restoration
- An upgrading is needed to maintain the organ’s use for worship and for concerts;
- Margaret Sinclair Museum
- The Margaret Sinclair museum requires maintenance and upgrading in anticipation of her canonisation and the resulting increase in pilgrims;
- Runciman Murals
- This exciting project will restore the last remaining murals by the celebrated Scottish artist, Alexander Runciman. The murals are of outstanding national importance for their rarity and completeness.
- Margaret Sinclair Hall
- At present St Patrick’s has no church hall. This will act as a resource for the congregation and the wider community.
This ambitious project is an act of faith for the future. Together we can make it happen.
Thank you
